About the American Bully
The American Bully is a relatively new companion dog breed, officially recognized in the early 2000s by the American Bully Kennel Club (ABKC). Developed from various bulldog-type breeds, primarily the American Pit Bull Terrier, it was selectively bred to create a gentle, friendly, and confident companion with a muscular appearance.
Despite their powerful build and strong stature, American Bullies are known for being exceptionally gentle and patient with family members, especially children. The breed comes in four main size varieties: Pocket, Standard, Classic, and XL—each differing in size but sharing the same affectionate temperament.
- Temperament: Gentle, loyal, and family-oriented; typically calm and confident.
- Exercise Needs: Moderate — regular walks and play keep them fit and happy.
- Grooming: Short coat that requires minimal care; brushing maintains shine.
- Training: Responds best to positive reinforcement and early socialization.
- Behavior: Bred to reduce aggression; usually good with other pets when socialized.
American Bullies thrive on human companionship and make excellent indoor family dogs when given love, structure, and daily activity.
