About the Bloodhound
The Bloodhound is a large scent hound renowned for having the most acute sense of smell of any dog breed. Originally bred for tracking deer and wild boar, Bloodhounds are now primarily used for tracking missing persons and fugitives, with their testimony admissible in court. Despite their intimidating size and serious work, Bloodhounds are gentle, affectionate dogs that are particularly patient with children. They're stubborn and independent, making training challenging, but respond best to patient, reward-based methods. Bloodhounds need moderate exercise and love following scent trails.
