Adorable pure-bred (unregistered) puppies born 2May2022. Price is negotiable. They will be available for rehoming on 13Jun2022. There are 3 females & 6 males. The mother is the third generation of the same bloodline owned by our family (picture 4). Tails have been docked. Additional photos available upon request.
About the Boykin Spaniel
The Boykin Spaniel is a medium-sized sporting breed developed in South Carolina in the early 1900s, specifically for hunting wild turkeys and waterfowl in the swamps and lakes of the region. This breed is the state dog of South Carolina and was created to be small enough to fit in small hunting boats.
Boykin Spaniels have solid liver or chocolate-colored coats that can range from medium to moderately long with a slight wave. They have expressive eyes, long ears, and athletic builds suited for swimming and retrieving. Their webbed feet make them exceptional swimmers, and their medium size allows them to work in confined spaces.
These spaniels are known for being friendly, eager to please, and highly trainable. Boykin Spaniels are versatile hunting dogs with strong retrieving instincts and excellent noses, but they also make wonderful family companions. They are typically gentle with children, social with other dogs, and adaptable to various living situations. Their eager, enthusiastic nature makes them delightful companions.
Boykin Spaniels need regular exercise and particularly love water activities. They excel in hunting, field trials, and dock diving. These dogs are intelligent and respond well to positive training methods. They can adapt to various living situations including apartments if exercised adequately. Their coats require regular brushing to prevent matting and occasional professional grooming. Boykin Spaniels make excellent family dogs for active households, combining hunting ability with companionability.
