About the Chesador

Chesador

The Chesador is a remarkable hybrid that combines the best traits of the Chesapeake Bay Retriever and the Labrador Retriever. This large, athletic dog stands about 20 to 27 inches tall and weighs between 50 to 80 pounds, featuring a short to medium length, dense, waterproof coat that comes in black, brown, yellow, light brown, or gold. The breed is known for being an excellent swimmer thanks to its water-resistant coat and webbed feet, making them ideal companions for water-loving families.

In terms of personality, Chesadors are friendly, outgoing, and energetic dogs that are always up for a game of fetch or a good belly rub. These dogs are best known for being playful, loving, happy, energetic, protective, alert, intelligent, friendly, responsive, affectionate, loyal, gentle, and social. They are social, talented, and affectionate companions that become obedient with proper training. This breed is generally calm and does not have aggressive tendencies, though early socialization as a puppy helps prevent skittishness.

Chesadors are usually very food motivated, making training with positive reinforcement a breeze. They are very easy to train because they strive to please their owners. However, they have a moderate to high energy level, requiring regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. The Chesador needs plenty of strenuous activity to maintain their health. This breed excels as a devoted family companion, working dog, or active outdoor partner, making them perfect for families who can provide the exercise, training, and attention these intelligent, water-loving retrievers need to thrive.
