This little dog is called Okie and she is a Female-Miniature Short-Haired Double Dapple Chiweenie. She is super friendly and loves to cuddle and hang out on your lap. Okie gets along well with other dogs and she absolutely adores people and children. She has received all her shots and is up to date with her vaccinations. Unfortunately, Okie hasn't been spayed yet because her previous owner wanted her to have puppies. However, they are now moving out of state due to a job transfer and can't take her along. Okie was born on October 10, 2022, and she is now looking for a forever home where she can be loved and cared for. If you are interested in giving Okie a loving home, please reach out to us. We are only asking for a very small rehoming fee because they just want her to go to a good home. Okie is ready to find her forever family and bring joy and happiness to their lives.
About the Chiweenie
The Chiweenie is a delightful designer dog that combines the bold personality of the Chihuahua with the playful spirit of the Dachshund. This compact crossbreed is popular with apartment dwellers and anyone seeking a portable companion with a big personality.
Despite their small size, Chiweenies are confident and devoted, often forming intense bonds with one or two favorite people. Their appearance varies: some inherit the long body and short legs of the Dachshund, while others show a more balanced Chihuahua-like frame. Coats can be short and smooth or slightly longer and come in shades of tan, black, brown, blonde, and combinations thereof.
Chiweenies are alert and make surprisingly effective watchdogs, often announcing visitors with enthusiastic barking. While affectionate with family, they may be wary of strangers and can show the stubborn streak common to both parent breeds — early socialization and patient, consistent training are important. These spirited little dogs thrive on attention and do not do well when left alone for long periods. They have moderate energy levels and enjoy daily walks; their exercise needs are easily met in small spaces.
Because of their small size and sometimes long backs, Chiweenies can be fragile and require careful handling, especially around young children. With proper care, training, and socialization, they make wonderful companions for singles, seniors, and families with older children.
