Meet Duke — a 7-month-old Aussie and German Shepherd mix with the perfect blend of brains, loyalty, and heart. This handsome boy is fully potty trained, knows how to sit, and even waits politely for permission before eating. He’s gentle with babies, playful with other dogs, and eager to please.
Duke has been an amazing part of our family, but with a 10-month-old, fostering, and another baby on the way, we’ve made the tough decision to find him a new home where he can get all the love and attention he deserves.
About the German Aussie
The German Aussie is an intelligent and athletic mixed breed created by crossing the German Shepherd with the Australian Shepherd, resulting in a highly trainable working dog with exceptional herding and guarding instincts.
These dogs inherit remarkable intelligence from both parent breeds, making them quick learners who excel in obedience training, agility, and various dog sports. They thrive on mental challenges and require purposeful activities to stay content.
German Aussies are extremely loyal and form strong bonds with their families, though they may be reserved or protective around strangers. Early socialization is crucial to ensure they develop into well-rounded companions. They typically do well with children but may display herding behaviors.
This is a high-energy breed requiring substantial daily exercise—at least 60-90 minutes of vigorous activity. They're best suited for active families or individuals who can provide both physical exercise and mental stimulation. Their thick double coat requires regular grooming, especially during seasonal shedding periods.
