These pups are already housebroken and deserve room to play as well as a loving family. About the Havanese
The Havanese is the national dog of Cuba and the only breed native to the island nation. This charming toy breed has a fascinating history dating back to the 1500s when Spanish settlers brought small companion dogs to Cuba. Over centuries of isolation and selective breeding, these dogs developed into the distinct Havanese breed we know today. Named after Havana, the capital city, these dogs were treasured by Cuban aristocracy and became symbols of wealth and status. Following the Cuban Revolution, the breed nearly became extinct, but a handful of refugees brought their beloved Havanese to the United States, where dedicated breeders worked to preserve and revitalize the breed. Standing just 8.5 to 11.5 inches tall and weighing between 7 and 13 pounds, the Havanese is a small but sturdy toy breed with a distinctive appearance. Their most notable feature is their luxurious, long, silky coat that flows gracefully as they move, giving them an elegant, almost springy gait. The coat comes in all colors and patterns, from solid white, black, or cream to parti-colors and complex patterns. Unlike many long-coated breeds, the Havanese has hair rather than fur, which means they shed minimally and are often better tolerated by people with allergies, though no dog is truly hypoallergenic. Their large, dark, expressive eyes and plumed tail that curves over their back complete their endearing appearance. The Havanese personality is truly special—they are often described as velcro dogs because of their intense desire to be with their people at all times.
