About the Irish Doodle

The Irish Doodle is an energetic designer crossbreed between the Irish Setter and Poodle (typically Standard Poodle), combining the Setter's exuberant, outgoing personality with the Poodle's intelligence and low-shedding coat. These large, athletic dogs inherit the Irish Setter's stunning red coloring ranging from deep mahogany to lighter copper, often with wavy or curly coats that require regular grooming every 6-8 weeks. Irish Doodles are exceptionally friendly, social dogs that thrive on human interaction and family involvement. They possess high energy levels and need substantial daily exercise including long walks, runs, or active play sessions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please make them highly trainable, though they can be exuberant and slow to mature, maintaining puppy-like enthusiasm well into adulthood. These dogs excel in various activities including agility, obedience, and therapy work. Irish Doodles are generally excellent with children and other pets when properly socialized. They don't do well with long periods alone and can develop separation anxiety.
