We've got 8 Akc silver labradors. 4 girls and 4 boys. Dam and sire are both silver labradors registered on the AKC. Sire is a hunting dog, Dam is nothing more than a gentle house dog. Puppies born on 7/10/20 are expected to be ready in late August. Now take $400 in deposits to secure a puppy. $2,000 for full registration or $1,600 for pet registration.
About the Labrador Retriever
The Labrador Retriever has held the title of America's most popular dog breed for over three decades, and for good reason. Originally developed in Newfoundland (not Labrador) during the 1700s as a fisherman's helper, retrieving nets and fish from the icy North Atlantic waters, the breed was later refined in England for hunting waterfowl. Labs are medium to large dogs with a distinctive short, dense, water-resistant double coat that comes in three recognized colors: black, yellow (ranging from pale cream to fox-red), and chocolate. Their powerful build, otter-like tail, and webbed feet reflect their heritage as tireless water retrievers built for swimming in cold conditions.
Labrador Retrievers are renowned for their friendly, outgoing personalities and seemingly endless enthusiasm for life. They are famously good-natured with everyone—family members, strangers, children, and other animals—making them poor guard dogs but excellent family companions. Labs are intelligent and eager to please, which combined with their food motivation makes them highly trainable. They excel as service dogs, guide dogs, search and rescue dogs, therapy dogs, and detection dogs, in addition to their traditional role as hunting companions. With children, Labs are typically patient and gentle, though their exuberance and tail-wagging enthusiasm can accidentally knock over small children. They retain their puppy-like playfulness well into adulthood, often not fully maturing until three years of age.
Prospective owners must be prepared for a high-energy breed requiring substantial daily exercise—at least 60-90 minutes of vigorous activity. Without adequate physical and mental stimulation, Labs can become destructive chewers and diggers. They are notorious for their love of food and tendency toward obesity, requiring careful portion control and regular exercise. Their short coat sheds heavily, particularly during seasonal coat changes, requiring regular brushing. Labs thrive in active families who can provide exercise, training, and include them in activities—they are happiest when given a job to do, whether retrieving ducks, competing in dog sports, or simply playing fetch. For those who can meet their needs, Labrador Retrievers offer unmatched devotion, infectious joy, and versatile companionship.
