Our 6-month-old AKC English female mastiff puppy currently looking for a new forever home. She is very adorable, polite and cuddly. She's wonderful. She gets along perfectly with other dogs/cats and is absolutely well. UTD on all shots/deworms. She's almost house broken only wanting a routine and more consistency. This pup comes from the bloodlines of the champion, the mother was a show dog and the sire, who won the champion. There are over 200lbs of both parents. We bought her and figured she'd have more time, but we didn't. She only want a nice place to live with someone who has the time to give her the love and care she deserves. About the Mastiff
The Mastiff, also known as the English Mastiff, is one of the oldest and largest dog breeds in existence, with a history dating back thousands of years to ancient civilizations. These massive dogs were originally bred as war dogs and guardians, but today they're renowned as gentle giants who combine incredible size and strength with a remarkably calm, affectionate temperament. Despite their intimidating appearance, Mastiffs are known for their sweet, patient nature with family members.
Weighing between 120-230 pounds, with males typically larger than females, Mastiffs are truly colossal dogs with powerful, muscular builds, massive heads, and distinctive wrinkled faces. Their short, dense coat comes in fawn, apricot, or brindle, always with a dark mask on the face. While their grooming needs are minimal—requiring only weekly brushing—prospective owners should be prepared for moderate shedding and significant drooling, which comes with the territory of owning this magnificent breed.
Mastiffs possess a naturally protective instinct and serve as excellent guardians who will defend their family and territory when necessary. However, they're not aggressive by nature and typically display a calm, discerning judgment about potential threats. Their imposing size alone is often enough to deter intruders. With their own family, Mastiffs are incredibly loyal and affectionate, often thinking they're lap dogs despite their enormous size. They're gentle and patient with children, though supervision is necessary due to their sheer bulk.
Despite their size, Mastiffs have relatively low energy levels and are content with moderate daily exercise—a couple of short walks are usually sufficient. However, puppies must have controlled exercise to protect their developing joints. Early socialization and consistent, gentle training are essential, as an untrained adult Mastiff can be difficult to manage. Their shorter lifespan of 6-10 years is typical for giant breeds, making every moment with these devoted companions precious.
