I have a male mountain cur puppy in search of a good family. He's 6 months of age, totally up to date with the shots and he's full of life and loves to play. He needs a large back yard to run in. He also has plenty of toys and if you are interested, a huge bag of dog food and a crate. He's a super smart puppy, and he's going to be a perfect dog for every caring household. Re-homing fee of $375.
About the Mountain Cur
The Mountain Cur is a rugged American working dog breed that originated in the mountains of Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and other Southern states. Brought to America by European settlers, these versatile dogs were bred to help pioneers survive in harsh frontier conditions. They served as hunting companions, livestock protectors, and family guardians, earning their keep through hard work and unwavering loyalty.
Medium-sized and muscular, Mountain Curs have short, dense coats that can be yellow, brindle, black, blue, or brown. They are incredibly intelligent, courageous, and possess strong treeing instincts, making them exceptional hunting dogs for squirrels, raccoons, and even larger game like bears and wild boar. Their keen sense of smell and determination make them relentless trackers.
These dogs are not suited for sedentary lifestyles. They require extensive daily exercise, mental stimulation, and a job to do. Mountain Curs excel in active, rural environments where they can run, hunt, and work. They are naturally protective of their families and territory, making them excellent watchdogs. While loyal and affectionate with their families, they can be reserved with strangers and require early socialization. With proper training and outlets for their energy, Mountain Curs make devoted companions for experienced owners who understand their working dog needs.
