My daughter impulsively bought a cute 7-week-old chocolate Pomeranian/Aussie puppy without consulting us, her parents. However, we cannot keep the puppy as we already have three dogs, and one of them is not good with babies. So, we urgently need to find a new home for the puppy. My daughter spent $300 on her, and we only want that amount back. The decision of where the puppy goes will be up to my daughter, so if you're interested, please explain the type of home you can provide for her. The puppy is healthy, free from fleas, and is already house-trained. She's very small and loves her padded comforter, food, bowls, toys, and collar, all of which will be included in the adoption.
About the Pomeranian
The Pomeranian is a toy breed descended from larger Spitz-type sled dogs, particularly those from the Pomerania region of Central Europe. These tiny dogs were bred down in size over several centuries, becoming favorites of royalty including Queen Victoria, who played a significant role in popularizing the breed. Pomeranians are instantly recognizable by their fluffy double coat that forms a distinctive 'puff ball' appearance, fox-like face, plumed tail that curves over their back, and alert, intelligent expression. Despite weighing only 3-7 pounds, Pomeranians possess enormous personalities characterized by confidence, curiosity, and a bold spirit that often makes them act as if they're much larger dogs. They come in a remarkable range of colors including orange, red, cream, black, brown, blue, and parti-color variations. These extroverted little dogs are highly social with their families and thrive on being the center of attention. They're devoted companions who form strong bonds with their owners, though they can be demanding of attention and may develop separation anxiety if left alone frequently. Pomeranians are naturally alert and make excellent watchdogs, being quick to bark at anything unusual—excessive barking is a common issue requiring consistent training. While they're generally friendly, they can be wary of strangers and may become nippy if scared or overwhelmed. They're not ideal for families with young children due to their fragile size and tendency to be reactive when handled roughly. Training requires patience as Pomeranians are intelligent but can be stubborn and independent. Positive reinforcement and early socialization are essential. Despite their tiny size, they have moderate energy levels and enjoy daily walks and play sessions, though 20-30 minutes of activity suffices. Pomeranians adapt well to various living situations including apartments and are popular with seniors and city dwellers. Their spectacular coat requires significant grooming—brushing several times weekly to prevent matting and manage heavy shedding. Professional grooming every 4-6 weeks helps maintain coat health. Common health concerns include patellar luxation, collapsed trachea, dental problems, hypoglycemia, and eye issues. With proper care, socialization, and respect for their spirited nature, Pomeranians make entertaining, devoted companions.
