We've got 2 Puggles which were born on January 04 and are ready to go home on February 29. We have one boy and one girl. It's 3/4 Pug and 1/4 Beagle. The dad is a full Pug and the mom is a a half Pug / Beagle. So these guys are going to look a little more like a complete Pug than the usual Puggles do. They're going to have a shorter muzzle and more curve to the tail. Parents are small, so I expect these guys to be too low-maximum 10 to 15 lbs. Pick up is available.
About the Puggle
The Puggle is a popular designer breed created by crossing a Pug with a Beagle, first intentionally bred in the 1990s by Wisconsin breeder Wallace Havens. This charming hybrid was developed to combine the Pug's affectionate, companionable nature with the Beagle's athleticism and slightly longer muzzle, potentially reducing some breathing issues common in pure Pugs. Puggles typically inherit the Pug's wrinkled forehead and compact build while gaining the Beagle's longer snout, floppy ears, and sturdier frame, creating an endearing appearance that has captivated dog lovers worldwide.
These sociable dogs are known for their outgoing, people-oriented personalities and generally get along exceptionally well with children, other dogs, and even cats, making them excellent family pets. Puggles tend to be more energetic than Pugs but less intense than Beagles, requiring moderate daily exercise through walks and play sessions to stay healthy and happy. They often inherit the Beagle's strong nose and curious nature, which can lead to following scents and potential wandering if not properly supervised.
Training can be moderately challenging as they may inherit the Pug's stubborn streak combined with the Beagle's easily distracted nature, requiring patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement methods. Puggles are prone to moderate to heavy shedding year-round despite their short coat, necessitating regular brushing. They may also inherit the Beagle's vocal tendencies, including howling and barking, which should be considered in apartment settings. Like both parent breeds, Puggles love food and can easily become overweight without proper portion control and regular exercise. These adaptable dogs thrive in various living situations and form strong bonds with their families, often suffering from separation anxiety if left alone for extended periods.
