About the Raggle

Raggle

The Raggle is a spirited designer breed created by crossing a Rat Terrier with a Beagle, combining the Rat Terrier's feisty terrier personality and athletic build with the Beagle's friendly nature, strong nose, and pack mentality. This small to medium hybrid brings together two versatile hunting breeds known for their energy, intelligence, and determination, resulting in an active companion with both terrier tenacity and hound charm.

Raggles typically inherit a compact, muscular body with moderate legs, expressive eyes, and ears that may be partially or fully floppy like a Beagle's. Coat length is usually short to medium, requiring minimal grooming, with colors ranging widely including combinations of white, black, tan, brown, and various markings from both parent breeds.

These energetic dogs possess a strong prey drive inherited from both hunting parents, making them enthusiastic chasers of squirrels, rabbits, and anything that moves quickly. Their Beagle heritage often contributes a powerful nose and tracking instinct, while the Rat Terrier side adds terrier determination and alertness.

Raggles are typically friendly, social dogs who enjoy being part of family activities and generally get along well with children when properly socialized. However, their high energy levels and excitable nature mean they do best with older children who can handle their exuberance.

Training requires patience and consistency, as they may inherit the Beagle's stubborn streak and tendency toward distraction by interesting scents, combined with the Rat Terrier's independent thinking. These dogs need substantial daily exercise including walks, play sessions, and mental stimulation to prevent boredom-related behaviors like excessive barking or digging. Raggles can be quite vocal, potentially inheriting the Beagle's characteristic bay or howl. They're best suited for active families who can provide the exercise, training, and attention these lively companions require.
