About the Vizsla
The Vizsla is an ancient Hungarian hunting breed developed over a thousand years ago by the Magyar tribes. Known as the “Velcro dog” for their intense desire to stay close to their owners, Vizslas are exceptionally affectionate and form deep, lasting bonds with their families.
This medium-sized pointing breed was designed to be a versatile hunter, capable of pointing, retrieving, and working both on land and in water. Their distinctive golden rust coat, lean, muscular build, and regal bearing make them instantly recognizable.
Vizslas are high-energy dogs that require substantial daily exercise — at least 60–90 minutes of vigorous activity. They excel in various dog sports including field trials, agility, dock diving, and hunt tests. Without adequate mental and physical stimulation, they can become anxious or destructive.

They’re remarkably clean dogs with minimal doggy odor, but their thin coat and low body fat make them sensitive to the cold. Common health concerns include hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and eye conditions. Vizslas do not do well when left alone for long periods, as they thrive on companionship and activity. Best suited for active families or individuals, this devoted breed rewards loving homes with unwavering loyalty and affection.
