The Xoloitzcuintli (pronounced show-low-eats-QUEENT-lee), also known as the Mexican Hairless Dog, is one of the world's oldest and rarest breeds, dating back over 3,000 years to ancient Aztec civilization. This unique breed comes in three sizes — toy, miniature, and standard — and two varieties: hairless and coated.
The hairless variety requires special skin care, including moisturizing and sun protection, while the coated variety has a short, flat coat. Xolos are calm, attentive companions that bond deeply with their families but can be reserved or aloof with strangers.
